How does industry find the right faculty or projects for collaboration, and, similarly, how do faculty find industry partners?

Sometimes collaborations arise organically between UCSF faculty and industry scientists / executives, perhaps by a mutual introduction or connection at a scientific conference.

In a more comprehensive way, however, the UCSF Office of Strategic Alliances works to connect our faculty to industry and vice versa. Our office is often utilized by industry partners to scout the campus for research projects that may be of interest, and we work directly with faculty to find industry partners suitable for collaboration on their innovative ideas. After a collaboration of interest is identified, we may also provide help in setting up the research collaboration agreement or will direct you to someone within UCSF who will do so.
