Guidelines, Procedures & Policies

In rare cases, the ITA may release the University of California’s intellectual property rights in an invention to the funding sponsor or to the inventors, as appropriate.  Release of rights from UCSF is always accomplished via a formal, written letter agreement that must be signed by the Director, Technology Management or her designee, and all inventors (or the sponsor, as the case may be), outlining the rights, obligations and restrictions for each party.
